Raw Instincts Magazine Dec '12

Many of us have heard of the herb Oregano, often used in such dishes as Spaghetti Bolognese and Lasagne, but many people do not know that ‘oil of oregano’ is a potent, powerful antiseptic with antiviral and antifungal properties, making it a very good natural choice for many illness’s and ailments for both us and our dogs.
The oil is distilled from the leaves of wild oregano and as much as 90% of it can be the volatile oils thymol and carvacrol, and it is these two oils mainly which are so beneficial in antiviral, antiseptic, antimicrobial and antifungal ways, and for anthelmintic issues also, having an‘anti-worming’ effect which makes it excellent for internal parasites for dogs.
Many don't know but oil of oregano is also almost as effective as morphine as a pain reliever.

As with all essential oils, the oil should never be used neat, as internally it can cause heartburn, and for topical use it may burn the skin, so should always be diluted in a carrier oil of almond or  pure vegetable oil.

Those who use Oil of Oregano will know it’s health benefits, that it contains several important minerals and nutrients such as copper, niacin, beta-carotene, antioxidants, flavenoids and terpenes, which are natural anti-inflammatory agents, so it is easy to see how it can be of help in a wide array of health issues ranging from colds and flu, to cuts and sores, bites, intestinal upsets and muscular and joint aches and pains, athletes foot, yeast issues, dandruff, acne, bronchitis and other respiratory issues.

Another very effective remedy given to us by mother nature, well worth looking into for your natural remedy store.
